This Is Me

The girl behind the music

Alisha Popat isn’t just a singer-songwriter—she’s a storyteller, weaving raw emotion and nostalgia into every note. Her indie-folk fusion sound pulls you into a world where memories are made, where love, longing, and adventure collide. Inspired by the likes of Birdy, Angus & Julia Stone, and Novo Amor, her music is an aching echo of the past, wrapped in the warmth of the present.

Born and raised in Kenya, Alisha carved out a space for indie and alternative music in a scene that wasn’t always ready for it. From viral collaborations—including her African rendition of We Found Love with Lindsey Stirling (now sitting at a staggering 62 million views)—to performing on global stages and featuring on CNN African Voices, she became a force in her own right. But just when things felt steady, she leaped into the unknown.

Moving to Berlin in the middle of a pandemic was a test of resilience. Leaving behind home, family, and an established career, she found herself in a city where winter was unforgiving, and starting over felt impossible. But music wouldn’t let her go. She landed a spot on The Voice of Germany 2021, pushing herself to sing in a language she barely knew, proving once again that passion speaks louder than words.

Now, with a newfound sense of identity, Alisha has shed the ‘cover queen’ title to release music that’s entirely, unapologetically hers. Her single Home is a love letter to the places and people we carry with us, no matter where we are. Every song she creates is meant to be lived in—soundtracks for road trips, late-night conversations, and the quiet moments in between.

For those who crave music that feels like a memory waiting to happen, Alisha Popat is your artist.
